If I were to include the various sub-choices within these preferences, you'd notice a variety of pre-sets (e.g., color schemes, layouts, icon images, etc.) and what appears to be relative freedom to make other choices. For example, a student could decide to create customized images instead of going with the existing icon choices for things like binder, folder, and file. However, despite what the student chooses, a uniform element always remains. To extend the icon example, no matter what the student creates as an image, it will be yoked to the word the image represents and include a gray drop-down box as well.
